Epidemiology and Disease Pathophysiology: Hereditary Haemochromatosis
In this webcast, Pierre Brissot, MD, provides a review of the epidemiology and pathophysiology of hereditary haemochromatosis (HHC), including the key role of hepcidin. The diagnosis and management of this disease is also discussed, and how HHC relates to the development of iron overload.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for haematologists, medical oncologists, haematology-oncology specialists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the screening, evaluation, treatment, and management of adults and children with iron overload, resulting from the spectrum of chronic iron overload diseases.

Learning Objectives
After participating in this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Classify the various types of inherited haemochromatosis, including underlying genetic mechanisms and clinical presentation to improve diagnosis and management of this disorder.
- Discuss the epidemiology and disease pathophysiology of hereditary haemochromatosis and recognize that patients with this disorder may be affected by the factors that lead to the development of iron overload.
