Indications for Successful Iron Overload Treatments and Monitoring: Myelodysplastic Syndromes

Transfusion-dependent myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) patients with favorable prognoses and/or stable disease are at risk of developing clinical consequences of iron overload and can benefit from iron chelation therapy. In this webcast, Dr. Gattermann discusses the cardiac morbidity resulting from iron overload in patients with MDS, indications for and benefits of chelation therapy, selection of appropriate MDS patients for treatment, and treatment guidelines for the initiation and duration of iron chelation therapy.
