Indications for Successful Iron Overload Treatments and Monitoring: Hereditary Haemochromatosis
In this webcast, Pierre Brissot, MD, discusses the use of phlebotomy and iron chelation as therapeutic options for the treatment of HFE and non-HFE haemochromatosis. The indications, administration, benefits, and limitations of both these options are addressed.

Target Audience
This activity is designed for haematologists, medical oncologists, haematology-oncology specialists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the screening, evaluation, treatment, and management of adults and children with iron overload, resulting from the spectrum of chronic iron overload diseases.

Learning Objectives
After participating in this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Assess when to administer phlebotomy or appropriate chelation therapy based on the differences and similarities in HFE and non-HFE haemochromatosis for better management of patients with iron overload.
- Evaluate the benefits and limitations of phlebotomy and iron chelation and know when to use iron chelation as a replacement for, or as an adjunct to, phlebotomy to optimize patient outcomes.
